The sandblasted surface gives the cymbals of the Byzance Vintage series their unique, matte look and soft playing feel. They offer a deep, dark, and sometimes dry sound without being too soft or aggressive. The pronounced attack and short sustain give the drummer optimal control at all times. This unique sound makes the Byzance Vintage cymbals extremely versatile.
 
The original idea for the Sand Hats dates back to 2010, when the 14" version developed with Benny Greb was first presented to the public. Due to many requests for large hi-hats, constantly changing musical trends, and the associated sound requirements, a 2-inch larger version of the Sand Hats was developed with him. "I've been using the prototype of the 16" Sand Hats in the studio for some time now, whenever a warmer, wider hi-hat sound was required, but I didn't want to give up the sound character of my 14" version," comments Benny Greb. "Now I'm happy to be able to share this great sound with you too!"
