Meinl Byzance Vintage 18" Sand Crash Medium
The Meinl Sand Ride is a completely new development and complements the Byzance series with another spectacular cymbal. Benny Greb tested countless prototypes and worked with Meinl's R&D department for over a year on this unique cymbal. The extreme demands that Benny placed on his ride were a real challenge for Meinl's cymbal makers. It should have a warm, soft stick sound, like a 30-year-old vintage cymbal, with a distinct, yet very fine stick sound and a powerful and, above all, clear bell. The Sand Ride combines all of these sounds. The top of the hand-hammered cymbal is sandblasted, which creates this unique, warm sound. The cymbal is only turned over about 2/3 of the surface of the bottom, which means a lot of material is removed at this point. The cymbal thus remains the outside and at the bell are considerably thicker, ensuring a clear and powerful sound.
Benny is sure that there are many drummers who have been looking for a ride like this for a long time; for him, it is definitely THE ride.
