The combination of birch and walnut sets the tonal focus, especially in the low and mid-frequency range. Birch provides the necessary and clear attack at higher frequencies, while walnut complements the lows. The typical sound of the TAMA Starclassic is clearly audible, but expanded and presents the current modern drum sound.
